PITTSBURGH – Nov. 7, 2002 – Ansoft Corporation (NASDAQ: ANST) today announced the release of SIMPLORER 6.0, simulation software designed for the digital prototyping of multi-technology systems used in the automotive, aerospace, and power-electronics industries.

SIMPLORER 6.0, an easy-to-use software environment built on a powerful co-simulation technology, enables engineers to accurately model systems comprised of analog, digital, mixed-signal electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, controls, and other technologies without having to choose between proprietary modeling languages. SIMPLORER allows all of these technologies to operate simultaneously, delivering unprecedented power and flexibility for simulating complex multi-technology systems.

SIMPLORER 6.0’s new features include:
VHDL-AMS: VHDL-AMS is new the IEEE standard modeling language for analog mixed-signal design. VHDL-AMS is designed to be an easily exchangeable, open-source modeling language that facilitates the collaboration of multiple organizations. SIMPLORER allows the VHDL-AMS to be mixed freely with its other modeling languages (circuits, state machines, and block diagrams), creating a very flexible design environment.
SPICE Compatibility: SIMPLORER 6.0 is compatible with the standard SPICE 3F5 format, allowing existing SPICE models of components to be utilized within SIMPLORER, and thus eliminating the requirement for a tedious conversion process for existing models.
DC and AC Analyses: SIMPLORER now supports DC and AC analyses, extending the software’s capabilities beyond its traditional transient capability. Power converters with intricate, integrated control schemes can be easily modeled using SIMPLORER.
Hydraulics and Automotive Libraries: The new hydraulics library provides a set of sophisticated models for power-train and other hydraulic applications. The automotive library offers a comprehensive set of models for extensive electrical-system analysis, including battery and fuel-cell models.
Maxwell® and Open Environment Interoperability: With SIMPLORER 6.0, users can generate highly accurate system-level models based on the results of parametric finite-element analysis performed with Ansoft’s Maxwell. In addition, engineers can reuse existing designs by co-simulating with specialized tools, such as MATLAB®/Simulink®, ADVISOR, and user-created C programs.
