MicroSim/DesignLab est un logiciel de CAO qui intègre différents outils nécessaires à l'élaboration d'un circuit électronique : saisie de schémas (Schematics), simulation du circuit (PSpice AD) routage du circuit imprimé (PCBoards) pour la version d'évaluation livrée avec l'ouvrage, et pour la version complète, des outils pour la synthèse des composants logiques programmables (PLSyn et MicroSim FPGA). La simulation de circuits non seulement permet la validation de ces derniers, mais est un réel outil pédagogique.
